Job Goal:

• To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

Critical Skills:

1. Previous and extensive Football coaching experience
2. Work well with athletes
3. Ability to speak clearly and audibly to various groups expressing ideas in a logical and forthright manner
4. Ability to quickly analyze a situation and provide prompt advice
5. Ability to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely and helpful manner
6. Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with others
7. Ability to travel as needed

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Enforce all rules of the Michigan High School Athletic Association and School.
2. Maintain an accurate squad roster at all times.
3. Verify that no candidate is issued equipment or allowed to practice until he/she has completed a physical exam/participation agreement forms.
4. Supervise practice sessions and maintain security of the locker room.
5. Serve as an advisor to the students on his/her squad.
6. Report injuries of participants to proper school officials. Follow injury policy as explained in Coach’s handbook.
7. Support and facilitate established decisions and policy decisions of a general nature that are in keeping with the established policies and procedures of the school.
8. Organize a system for uniform and equipment checkout and ensure that all students are accountable at the conclusion of each season.
9. Support the total athletic program of the Lawrence school system.
10. Attend all coaches meetings

A 6A high school with 1,800 students, Sprague has an exceptional wrestling program, having won nine district titles in the last twelve years and finishing in the top ten at the state meet seven of the past ten years, including 2nd in 2009 and 4th in 2010. Most of this years team is returning.

With various teaching positions also available, this position should be quite attractive to experienced wrestling coaches ready to lead a high profile, successful wrestling program.
