Bio:
- Graduated from Fenton High School in 1969, wrestling 3 years for Hall of Fame Coach Duane Wohlfert.
- Wrestled Freshman year at CMU for Hall of Fame Coach Chick Sherwood.
- Began teaching in Bad F1Axe, Michigan, January of 1973 after Graduating from Central Michigan, December of 1972.
- Joined the Peace Corps and taught Math in Swaziland South Africa from October 1973 to December 1975.
- Taught Junior High math at a Parochial School in Redford while coaching Wrestling at Redford Union High School 1976-77.
- Teacher and Wrestling Coach at Byron Area Schools the past 32 years. 1978-2010
- Member of the Michigan Wrestling Association, serving on the Board for the past 14 years. Currently Vice President.
- Wrestling Rep. to MHSCA and currently 1st Vice President of MHSCA
- Other sports coached by Covert include High School Football, Baseball, & Track; Jr. High Track; Kids Club Wrestling, and AYSO Soccer.
- Registered Official with MHSAA in Wrestling since 1972.
- Married 32 years to wife Christine.
- 2 daughters: Kara, Kathryn. Both live in the Virginia and work in DC.
